Main Window
[WORK IN PROGRESS]
Introduction
Main Window is the interface window that you will mostly spend your time on.
It only has the Analysis Mode and the Search Mode.
- Analysis Mode will let you select which folders you want LumiFind to see and analyze for you.
- Search Mode will be available after you perform at least one analysis, and will let you, well... search, but much faster and smarter!
Analysis Mode
Analysis Mode will have the following layout:
Depending on the models you have chosen in the Welcome Wizard or in the Settings window, and their enabled statuses, LumiFind will load them. It may take some time, but this will be done only once at each startup. It will enable the "Start Analysis" button when it's ready, as well as with a "LumiFind is ready!" message in the Logs (8).
If it is the first time starting, you will need to select some folders via (3) and include into (6) them to start analysis. LumiFind can only see the files if you allow it to do so.
On the upcoming launches, it will automatically switch to Search Mode to save one more click.
You can change the current folder by selecting the folders listed the tree view below (6), or by pressing "Browse..." button. Once you are happy with the folder, press "Include 'Folder' in Analysis" (5). To remove a folder, select from the Included Folders and press "Remove Selected from List" (5).
You can also include remote folders. On Windows, they start with \\. In that case, the include button will tell that it is a remote folder. On macOS and Linux, remote folders are only possible if they are mounted (mapped) and accessible via Finder, or a File Browser (e.g., Nautilus, Dolphin).
Similarly, if you would like to include Cloud storage folders like Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive etc., simply browse and include them in the analysis.
Once you included all the folders you needed, press "Start Analysis" button (7) and grab some coffee (water or anything you like).
You can also press "Stop Analysis" to stop. If an analyzer did not complete analyzing, you will need to restart it. Each analyzer is independent. If e.g., Document Analyzer is completed and you stopped the analysis during Image Analyzer, then the progress of the Document Analyzer will be saved.
Hint: To get used to the tool, we recommended that you start with a small set of folders and the file types. This will help you to easily switch between the available models until you find your perfect one.
Search Mode
This mode requires that you have at least one model enabled (via Welcome Wizard, or Settings) and performed at least one analysis.
Upon starting LumiFind, this will be the default mode to perform searches one click faster.
Type the query you would like to search and select the type of the search. Depending on your edition and active models, you will only see the available ones. You can select one of the following options:
- Document Search
- Image Search
- Voice Search
- Video Search
You can also press "Filters..." option, to limit the search only to specific folders, or the file types:
Before pressing "Search", simply uncheck the folders or file formats, or use the buttons above them to change the search criteria for this session.
Each search is stored in the Recent Searches area on the right. You can double click on a search query to search again. The time of search and the type will also be visible.
If something matches to your query, you will be provided with the results. If it is a Document, Voice, or Video result, the Content area will display the relevant text. If not visible, you can expand or shrink the columns to fit your screen.
If it is an Image result, no content will be displayed, but selecting the result once will display a thumbnail on the bottom right of the window.
Double clicking on a result will open the file with the default tool associated in your system.
